The Spa at Leiper’s Fork is a destination spa in the serene village of Leiper’s Fork just outside of Franklin, Tennessee. We are looking for a talented, experienced and compassionate Massage Therapist to join our team and help us grow into the premier destination spa in the area. The ideal candidate will administer professional massage and body treatments to our guests. This individual must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to train in our spa’s specific massage and body treatment offerings. The Massage Therapist will treat clients by using their hands to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body through touch and pressure to improve the client’s overall wellness by relieving pain, soothing injuries, increasing relaxation and improving circulation. The Massage Therapist must possess excellent communication skills and be able to learn the product and service knowledge necessary to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our guests. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, caring and professional, and have the ability to make others feel good about themselves.
What We Expect – Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all services and products while educating and training guests in these areas.
- Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
- Actively promote home care programs, return visits and meet minimum retail sales goals.
- Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures.
- Effectively inform and educate our guests about specific wellness concerns.
- Take a detailed client history including information about any injuries or conditions.
- Adhering to appointments in a timely manner by monitoring time schedule.
- Welcoming guests in a warm, friendly manner, accompanying them to and from treatment rooms, and thanking them sincerely on departure.
- Perform prep work and properly clean and restock room as required.
- Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
- Actively promote the spa, treatments and services, sessions, retail product, and programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
- Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
- Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by guests, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
- Guide clients through our service offerings and help them choose the types of massages that would benefit them most. Design sessions around clients’ specific complaints or problem areas.
- Listen to clients during massage and adjust technique to meet their needs.
- Possess ability to work without direct supervision.
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
- Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the spa.
- Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.
What We’re Looking for – Qualifications:
- Must hold and maintain a current Tennessee state license in massage (e.g. LMT)
- High School graduate or the equivalent required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a massage therapist in a spa or salon
- Dual license as an esthetician a plus
- Ability to maintain guest confidentiality
- Must demonstrate enthusiasm and passion for outstanding customer service to build loyalty with guests
- Ability to up-sell products and services to guests and cultivate return business
- Enjoy working with people and possess a friendly, outgoing, and engaging personality
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Basic computer knowledge in POS / CRM system and MS Office and email
- Must be a team player and willing to jump in and assist for guest satisfaction at all levels
- Must be willing and able to work any hours during normal operating times (includes weekends)
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen
- The employee is required to stand for long periods of time, as well as frequently sitting and walking. Use of hands, arms and fingers necessary.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
Compensation and Benefits:
- 40% commission and $15 per hour
- 401K plan after 6 months of service
