Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: New York, NY, 10019.
Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Shift: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8 AM – 4 PM
Duration: 60 DAY CONTRACT
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare entities to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
- Coordinate and oversee daily physician team workflows and medical assistant schedules to maintain efficient clinic operations.
- Support direct patient care, including rooming patients, assisting with exams and procedures, collecting specimens, and performing point-of-care testing.
- Handle clerical tasks such as managing medical records, processing forms and requisitions, and ensuring accurate EMR documentation.
- Enter physician orders and prescription refill requests into the EMR for review and approval.
- Maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring proper inventory, sterilization, and compliance with infection control protocols.
- Monitor and log data for refrigeration, crash carts, point-of-care testing, and sterilization processes per institutional guidelines.
- Assist with patient scheduling, insurance verification, pre-certification, and updating demographic/insurance information.
- Provide mentorship and training to Level I Medical Assistants, and assign tasks based on workflow and patient volume.
- Perform additional duties such as phlebotomy, chart preparation for procedures, and ensuring a safe and compliant clinical environment.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Medical Assistant certificate from an approved school
BLS certification – Required Issuing Authority: AHA
Certified Medical Assistant required.
