Our privately owned, small animal practice is seeking a dedicated team player looking to use their compassion and motivation to serve alongside our family oriented team at Forest Lake Veterinary Hospital as a Veterinary Technician.
Essential responsibilities of the position:
- Assist as needed the veterinarians and veterinary technicians - blood draws, catheters, animal restraint, vaccinations, oral medications, radiographs, etc.
- Patient rooming/check in - Responsible for reviewing reasons for visit and in the case of wellness visits, reviewing needed vaccines and preventative care.
- Patient discharge - Responsible for transferring instructions for care to owners, per veterinarian- post surgery, drop off or exam appointment. ie. filling out surgery go home forms.
- Client education - informing owners of vaccination options, diagnostics and other patient care suggestions made by our veterinarians.
- Perform in-clinic patient care including giving of medication/vaccinations, feedings or cleaning of kennels and dental surgery monitoring and all surgery preparations.
- Performing laboratory tests.
- Checking in deliveries of inventory and putting away hospital supplies.
- Assist as needed in the Customer Service Representative position.
Preferred competencies:
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer aptitude - be able to quickly learn VIA, our practice management system to schedule appointments and perform patient check ins, invoicing, payment processing, and client communication.
- Accurately perform lab sampling and tests
- Preparing and monitoring patients undergoing dental surgery/anesthetic procedures
- Ability to appropriately restrain patients
- Performing radiographs
