The Opportunity

Cook Children’s seeks a dynamic Director of Anesthesia Services to lead one of the nation’s premier pediatric anesthesia programs. This role oversees the delivery of anesthesia care for more than 20,000 procedures annually across Cook Children’s Medical Center and Surgery Center. The Director will manage Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), advanced practice providers, and staff development while ensuring clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient-centered outcomes.


Reporting to the Vice President, the Director will collaborate closely with perioperative leadership and physician partners to advance quality, safety, and innovation. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and professional accountability for anesthesia services.
  • Maintain clinical competence as a CRNA while mentoring staff and promoting education.
  • Drive customer service excellence and foster positive relationships across departments.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and resource optimization.
  • Champion quality improvement initiatives and adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top talent to support departmental growth and excellence.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Master’s degree in Anesthesia required; Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical anesthesia experience; pediatric experience ideal.
  • Progressive leadership experience with strong personnel management skills.
  • Current Texas RN and APRN licensure; CRNA certification required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a complex, collaborative environment.
