Randall Children’s Hospital at our facility serves as a regional hub for the treatment of infants, children, and adolescents. We provide unparalleled pediatric care in a cutting-edge environment tailored specifically for young patients. Families and pediatricians rely on us for both routine and complex medical and surgical interventions.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) specializes in the care of critically ill and premature infants. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, continuously refined to align with national and international standards, ensuring we deliver the highest quality care for vulnerable newborns. We cater to infants born as early as 16 weeks and up to 28 days old, including premature infants, multiples, and those with severe health issues, even caring for babies weighing less than a pound.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nurse Manager in managing daily operations of the unit, which includes:
    • Staffing and scheduling
    • Orientation and onboarding of new staff
    • Education and competency evaluations
    • Monitoring the budget
    • Setting and upholding patient care standards
    • Encouraging evidence-based practices
    • Implementing initiatives for quality improvement
  • Serve as a vital resource and provide backup support for unit personnel and departmental functions
  • Collaborate with the Charge Nurse to streamline departmental workflows
  • Act as the primary point of contact for staff and the organization in the absence of the Manager
  • Report directly to the Nurse Manager and assist in the overall management of the department

Qualifications

Education:

  • A degree in nursing (BSN or MSN/MN) is required.
  • MSN/MN is preferred.

Experience:

  • Significant clinical nursing experience at a proficient to expert level is required, along with two years of supervisory, leadership, or charge nurse experience in a healthcare setting.

Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, decision-making, and time management.
  • Proven knowledge of operations, including staffing, scheduling, productivity management, workflow planning, and staff development.
  • Proficient in using PC-based software, including Microsoft Office applications.

Licensure

  • A current state RN license is required.
  • Current BLS for Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Pay Range

USD $68.83 - USD $102.56 per hour.
