Job SummaryWe are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Pharmacy Technician I to support daily pharmacy operations. In this role, you will assist with the preparation of prescriptions, manage inventory, and handle patient interactions, ensuring regulatory compliance and high standards of service. This position plays a key part in supporting pharmacists and ensuring timely and accurate medication dispensing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pharmacy workstations and assist in processing and filling patient prescriptions.
- Answer incoming phone calls from members, providers, and internal staff with professionalism and accuracy.
- Assist in preparing medications for final pharmacist verification, including counting and labeling prescriptions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, prescribers, and colleagues via phone, email, and fax.
- Process prescription orders, handle copay transactions, and coordinate shipment packaging.
- Perform order entry and refill processing under pharmacist supervision.
- Maintain inventory levels and ensure proper storage of medications.
- Accurately complete documentation such as labels, log sheets, and reports.
- Participate in the on-call rotation as needed, based on staffing and business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician or in a related role.
- At least 1 year of experience in a customer service position handling inbound calls.
- Experience assisting with the preparation of medications for pharmacist verification.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Active Pharmacy Technician license.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a high-volume pharmacy or healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and electronic health records (EHR).
Certifications
- Pharmacy Technician License – Required and active
