A radiation therapist is needed to support patient care at a cancer treatment center in Claremont, NH. This contract position requires an experienced professional who can work independently under the direction of both the Chief Therapist and Radiation Oncologist. The role focuses on delivering precise radiation therapy treatments while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed radiation treatments, adjusting settings and monitoring patients throughout procedures.
- Prepare patients, treatment rooms, and equipment for therapy sessions and simulations.
- Assist the Radiation Oncologist during medical exams and simulations.
- Perform equipment calibration as directed by the Radiation Safety Officer and comply with therapy license regulations.
- Observe and enforce radiation safety protocols for patients and staff.
- Accurately document patient history, treatment doses, reactions, and procedural details.
- Manage scheduling, consultations, billing, and related administrative tasks.
- May perform specialized tasks such as injecting skin markers or administering contrast media under supervision.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current New Hampshire MIRT license or be willing to complete the temporary licensing process (including fingerprinting).
- Proven ability to work independently and efficiently in a clinical environment.
- Strong knowledge of radiation therapy safety standards and equipment calibration.
- Experience with patient care specific to radiation oncology.
- Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (local applicants not considered).
- Ability to comply with all medical and occupational health requirements within 5 days of offer acceptance.
