The Metal Fabricator / TIG Welder builds and welds high-quality metal components, including stainless-steel chambers and structural weldments, by interpreting blueprints and applying ANSI/AWS standards. This role ensures precision, safety, and consistency in fabrication and finishing processes.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld components based on layouts and detailed blueprints.
• Utilize hand tools, drills, taps, measuring devices, sanders & dynafiles.
• Weld sheet metal fabricated parts in compliance with ANSI/AWS standards.
• Perform welding and fabrication of stainless-steel vacuum chambers and structural steel frame weldments.
• Perform metal finishing using sanders and other finishing tools to achieve required surface quality.
• Fabricate to ANSI/AWS welding standards
• Drill and tap materials accurately.
• Work with sheet metal ranging from 18-gauge (0.048") to 1/2" plate.
• Use precision measuring tools including tape measures, micrometers, protractors, verniers, and combination squares.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently on the shop floor
• Must be able to set up and operate CMM inspection tool. (Training and support will be supplied)

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Physical Requirement: Balancing; climbing; bending; stooping; crawling; some light, moderate lifting and carrying; must have fine motor skills; be able to grasp small items; kneeling; pushing; reaching above shoulder; pulling hand over hand; ability to do a repetitive motion; and the ability to sit, stand and walk for most of the day. Mobility requirement enough to move around the production area safely and various types of customer locations
• Visual Requirement: Must be able to visually read documents, read from a computer screen, see system details
• Hearing Requirement: Must be able to hear and speak on the phone and in person to convey information. Must be able to identify hazard sounds and be aware of the environment on the production floor/customer sites for safety
• Mental Requirement: Comprehension, Organization, Reasoning, Decision Making, Communication, and Mathematics
