  • Performs skilled technical work, operating, maintaining and monitoring laboratory equipment for the analysis of wastewater and efficiency of wastewater treatment.
  • Responsible for the collection of samples of wastewater from various stages of processing for laboratory testing. Conducts laboratory control testing of plant influent, mixed liquor and effluent. Testing will include, but is not limited to, D.O. temperature, CL 2 residual, PH, suspended solids, nitrite, nitrate, BODS, COD and fecal.
  • Monitors meters, gauges, and control panels, and records data from lab analysis to ensure proper processing.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and lab area for cleanliness and adequate supplies. Requisitions supplies as needed providing justification.
  • Generates required daily logs, governmental reports, and equipment maintenance records, as necessary.
  • Performs housekeeping of the wastewater facilities.
  • Assists in equipment repair and replacement/maintenance.
  • Ability to operate the belt press.

This position may result in exposure to toxic, dangerous chemicals, gases, and/or raw sewage.

Experience and Education: High school education/GED, bachelor’s degree in science related field preferred or any combination of experience, education and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this work. Grade 2 or above Wastewater Operator Certificate required. Employee must maintain certification and meet PDH requirements.

Physical Requirements: Employee should be in good health and capable of performing tasks as stated above. Position may require employee to lift 40 pounds or greater. Must be able to work in a variety of outdoor conditions.

Additional Requirements: Must possess or obtain upon employment: A valid Arizona driver's license, telephone, and be available for on-call status as assigned. Employee must be available for shift work pending Wastewater Treatment Plant problems and emergencies. Must be willing to cross-train in plant and field operations.

Position reports to District Manager.
