Responsibilities:

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, adhering strictly to established procedures to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing accurately and efficiently, verifying patient demographics and labeling specimens in the presence of patients to maintain integrity and compliance.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, explaining procedures to foster a trusting and comfortable environment.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of collection activities, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and uphold process excellence while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.
  • Adapt to various work settings, including outpatient clinics, patient service centers, and other clinical locations, with minimal notice.
  • Contribute to a safe, professional, and welcoming environment, supporting team collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Excellent venipuncture skills with a proven track record of accuracy and safety.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in specimen verification and documentation.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and adapt to changing priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
  • Proficiency in keyboard/data entry to support documentation needs.

    Nice to Have Skills:

  • Phlebotomy certification or training in medical assisting or paramedic fields.
  • Experience working within a patient service center environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Three or more years of professional phlebotomy experience, especially in diverse clinical settings.

    Other Requirements:

  • Availability to travel between multiple locations with flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
  • Physical capability to handle specimen collection and perform venipuncture comfortably.
