About the Role:

The Dietary Aide plays a crucial role in supporting the nutritional and dietary needs of residents or patients within healthcare or assisted living facilities. This position ensures that meals are prepared, served, and delivered in a timely and hygienic manner, adhering strictly to dietary guidelines and individual care plans. The Dietary Aide collaborates closely with dietary staff, nursing personnel, and other team members to maintain a safe and pleasant dining experience. Attention to detail and adherence to infection control protocols are essential to safeguard the health and well-being of all individuals served. Ultimately, the Dietary Aide contributes significantly to the overall quality of care by promoting proper nutrition and supporting residents’ comfort and satisfaction during meal times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of food service and infection control practices.
  • Demonstrated patience and ability to relate positively with residents and team members.
  • Experience or willingness to work in an assisted living or healthcare environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a dietary aide or in a similar food service role within healthcare or assisted living settings.
  • Certification in food safety or dietary aide training programs.
  • Familiarity with specialized diets and nutritional requirements for various medical conditions.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to adapt to changing dietary needs and facility protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals according to prescribed dietary plans and facility standards.
  • Ensure all food items are handled and stored safely, following infection control and sanitation guidelines.
  • Deliver meals to residents or patients, accommodating special dietary needs and preferences as directed.
  • Clean and sanitize dining areas, kitchen equipment, and utensils to maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate resident needs and report any concerns related to food service or resident health.

The required skills such as patience and the ability to follow both written and oral instructions are essential for ensuring that dietary plans are executed correctly and residents receive appropriate meals.
