Job Summary:
The Staff Test Lab Technician supports the Engineering and Test teams by preparing, operating, and maintaining lab equipment used in the development, testing, and validation of both software and hardware. This role also includes assembling test fixtures, creating and updating engineering drawings, troubleshooting rack network setups, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the Rack Room.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare, set up, and operate laboratory equipment for testing
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment malfunctions or escalate issues as needed
- Maintain lab cleanliness and manage inventory of supplies and equipment
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to support ongoing projects
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance lab efficiency and test accuracy
- Train and mentor senior staff; serve as a subject matter expert for lab-related issues
- Design and validate cable drawings, rack harnesses, and other lab equipment
- Create and standardize documentation for racks and test fixtures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 10+ years of experience as a lab technician or in a similar technical role·
- 5+ years of experience building cables or other electromechanical assemblies
- Proficiency with lab equipment and tools (e.g., multimeters, hand tools)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise protocols
- Good organizational and documentation skills
- Understanding of lab safety standards and practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills for documentation and reporting
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $32.00/hr to $38.00/hr, however, base pay offered may vary depending on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
