Job Description:\n\nCost Accountant \nRome, GA \n\n \n\nGENERAL DESCRIPTION:\n \nPerforms general accounting work to include the review and processing of financial accounting documents. Ensures plantwide compliance with accounting and purchasing policies. May assist in the analysis and interpretation of accounting records for use by management. Preparation of financial and operating reports including adjusting and closing entries. Will work in developing capacities of other accounting staff in a range of accounting work Assignments. \n\n \n\nRESPONSIBILITIES \n\n\tPrepare monthly cost of sales and other closing entries. \n\tPerform monthly review of costing tables. \n\tAssist in maintaining closing schedules and reporting deadlines. \n\tAssist in the analysis of weekly and monthly actual vs. standard variances with managers. \n\tProvide support for forecast and budgeting. \n\tCollect, compile, analyze and interpret statistical and financial data for special reports. \n\tPrepare monthly and quarterly FTECH reports. \n\tMaintain pricing discrepancy data for accrual purposes for all raw material vendors. \n\tRaw material accounts payable processing, including intercompany and HSP. \n\tApply principles of accounting to conduct studies which provide detailed cost information not supplied by general accounting reports and systems. \n\tDemonstrate continued efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality external and internal customer service. \n\tAssist with the physical inventory audit and reconciliation process. \n\tSox audit support functions. \n\n \n\nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS \n\n\tGraduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with a degree in business administration, finance or accounting.\n\t3-5 years relevant accounting experience; preferred 1-2 years in a manufacturing setting. \n\tKnowledge and experience in automated (ERP) as well as manual accounting systems. \n\tSpreadsheet software (ex: Excel) skills to quantify and illustrate routine financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projections. Intermediate to Advance level experience required. \n\tKnowledge of basic finance, accounting and budgeting procedures, as well as, generally accepted accounting practices (G.A.A.P) \n\n \n\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED \n\n\tAbility to handle confidential information appropriately. \n\tAbility to work quickly and accurately with numerical detail under pressure and strict guidelines. \n\tAbility to handle a large volume of data and maintain accuracy. \n\tAbility to effectively communicate with people at all levels, both orally and in writing. \n\tAbility to understand, interpret and explain department/plant policies and procedures. \n\tAbility to work under limited supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and sound independent judgement. \n\tShows strong interpersonal and organizational skills and willingness to learn and to share knowledge. \n\tIdeal candidate will be comfortable in an actively changing environment where new systems and process are being implemented. \n\n \n\nDisable Ginger in this text fieldDisable Ginger on this website×\nDisable Ginger in this text fieldDisable Ginger on this website×\n\nONEPOWER Consulting LLC is an Atlanta-based executive search firm.
