Job Description

This hands-on Machine Operator role focuses on safely operating and monitoring industrial machining equipment used to manufacture multi-ton steel rolls in a heavy industrial production environment. You will set up and run CNC milling lathes, grinding machines, roughing, and plugging equipment, verify part quality using precision measuring tools, and make adjustments to maintain tight tolerances while supporting high production demands and regular overtime. All on-site training!!

Responsibilities

  • Operate industrial machining equipment, including CNC milling lathes, grinding machines, roughing, and plugging machines, to manufacture multi-ton steel rolls.
  • Set up machines safely and correctly, including loading materials, configuring basic machine settings, and verifying proper tooling.
  • Monitor machine operations throughout each run to ensure consistent production quality and identify issues early.
  • Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet tight tolerances.
  • Make necessary adjustments to machine settings and tooling based on measurements, part inspection, and process feedback.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
  • Follow production schedules and meet output targets while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Handle general production tasks and labor as needed, including material handling and basic assembly-related activities.
  • Document production information and communicate any quality or equipment concerns to appropriate team members.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and guidelines when working around large machinery and heavy materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Work rotating shifts and regular overtime, including Saturdays, to support ongoing production demands.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that machines multi-ton steel rolls using large industrial equipment. The environment is loud and physically demanding, requiring employees to stand for extended periods, work around large, moving machinery, and handle heavy materials. Strict adherence to safety procedures is mandatory, and employees must consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). The position follows rotating weekly shifts (7:00am–3:00pm, 3:00pm–11:00pm, 11:00pm–7:00am) with regular overtime, including Saturdays, to meet production demands. The setting is production-focused, hands-on, and centered around CNC milling lathes, grinding machines, roughing, and plugging operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Castle, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $23.00/hr.
