A healthcare opportunity is available for a registered nurse with Med/Surg Telemetry expertise to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced hospital unit. This contract position offers a dynamic environment focusing on a wide range of clinical skills, including orthopedic care, IV medication administration, wound and drain management, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and central line care. Knowledge of postop management and comprehensive patient assessments is essential.
Location:Located in Derry, NH, this role serves a well-equipped unit within a main hospital setting in the Manchester area. The unit operates on the E100 MedSurg Telemetry floor, known for its collaborative team atmosphere, state-of-the-art equipment, and supportive work culture. The hospital features cutting-edge technology like automated blood pressure machines, bladder scanners, and remote telemetry monitoring that enhances patient outcomes and nursing workflow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform head-to-toe assessments and provide specialized orthopedic patient care
- Administer and manage IV medications, including drips of Lasix, heparin, metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin
- Manage wound care, including drains and vacuum-assisted closures
- Provide care for NGT/G-tube patients and parenteral nutrition management
- Maintain and monitor central lines (PICC, HD catheters, midlines)
- Manage catheter care (foley, nephrostomy, suprapubic) and ostomy care
- Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to promote patient care excellence
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Current RN license
- ACLS and BLS certifications
- Experience with electronic documentation systems (Altera/Allscripts Sunrise) is preferred
- Strong understanding of telemetry and postoperative patient care
Schedule and Environment:
- Preferred work schedule is every-other-week 12-hour shifts
- Patient ratios average 1:5 during days, 1:6 at night
- Collaborative unit culture with unit secretaries and patient care technicians supporting nursing staff
- No specific uniform required; scrubs and closed-toe shoes mandatory (no crocs)
