Job Duties:· Design, develop and specify electrical and control systems and components for industrial food service products.· Manage outside contractors for control panel design and assembly. Communicate requirements and manage schedules.· Manage custom equipment projects from quoting phase through shipment and commissioning. Interface directly with customers to establish requirements and provide feedback regarding schedules and costs.· Travel to customer facilities domestically and internationally to assist in installation and commissioning of new production lines.· Spend time in the plant working with shop personnel on assembly floor, troubleshooting issues and identifying improvement opportunities to the designs.· Maintain a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations, including UL/CE, to ensure product designs are safe and conform to regulations and standards.· Manage design project progress and adapt work as needed.· The time spent at work is roughly 45-50% programming/designing, 20% commissioning at the facility, 20-25% travel, 10% project management. However, the Controls Engineer’s schedule often varies depending on the timeline of new production lines and travel requirements.
Qualifications:· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar and a minimum of one year in a manufacturing environment.· Extensive experience with application and programming of PLCs, VFDs and other machine controls. Allen-Bradley experience is a big plus.· Successful candidate will be self-driven, organized, enthusiastic, detailed, skilled at control design, and be able to prioritize assignments while focused on timely results.
