Quality Manager - Automotive Power Electronics
Job Description
Job Description
The Opportunity
Radél is an established global innovator in the heavy-duty vehicle and power electronics industry. Following our investment in a state-of-the-art facility in Winston-Salem, we are looking for a pioneering Quality Manager to join our US leadership team.
This is more than a management role—it is a rare chance to build a high-performance quality organization from the ground up. You will take a specialized, low-volume pilot operation and transform it into a high-yield, high-volume automotive powerhouse. For an ambitious quality professional, this is a CV-defining experience: the opportunity to say you established the compliance framework and IATF 16949 systems that powered the next generation of heavy-duty electric vehicle technology. If you thrive on precision, innovation, and the challenge of scaling a global brand's footprint, Radél is where you belong.
The Mission
The Quality Manager is the architect and "on-the-floor" guardian of our Quality Management System (QMS). You will lead the transition from low-volume pilot runs to a high-yield, fully automated automotive powerhouse. You are a systems-thinker who is pedantic about evidence, a master of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and hands-on enough to solve process shortcomings directly at the source.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hands-on Floor Leadership: Spend significant time on the production floor conducting "Gemba walks" to assess quality issues firsthand. Identify bottlenecks, process drifts, and operator shortcomings, implementing immediate tactical strategies to resolve them.
- QMS Design & Implementation: Refine a comprehensive QMS, ensuring full compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 9001.
- Six Sigma Continuous Improvement: Utilize Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, Pareto analysis, SPC) to analyze production data, identify "hidden" failure modes, and implement technical strategies to reduce variation and eliminate scrap.
- Real-Time Strategy Deployment: If yield drops, you are responsible for leading the immediate containment and technical strategy on the line to return to "zero-defect" status.
- Evidence & Documentation Mastery: Ensure 100% traceability and "digital birth certificates" for every product.
- APQP & PPAP Ownership: Lead the Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process for automotive customers.
- Systemic Problem Solving: Lead the 8D process for any failures, ensuring root causes are addressed through systemic changes rather than temporary fixes.
Required Expertise:
- Experience: 5+ years in Quality Management/Engineering within Tier 1 Automotive or Electronics Manufacturing.
- Technical Standards: Strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 and specialized electronic assembly quality standards.
- Lean Six Sigma: Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly preferred; must be able to demonstrate practical application of 5S and statistical analysis on a production floor.
- "Floor-First" Mentality: Proven ability to troubleshoot issues in a live environment alongside operators and technicians.
- QMS Fluency: Expert knowledge of the "Five Core Tools" (APQP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP).
- Personal Attributes: Pedantic regarding documentation and evidence; a driver of change who leads by example.
