Salary Range: $90,000-$100,000

Genesys Works is a national leader in providing pathways to career success for high school students in underserved communities through skills training, meaningful work experiences, and impactful relationships.
Founded in 2002 in Houston, Genesys Works currently operates in eight cities across the country and we are positioned for future growth. Genesys Works NYC (GWNYC) launched in 2019 and is a rapidly growing site currently supporting more than 55 interns. In response to the New York City market’s increasing demand for diverse entry-level talent, GWNYC aims to double in size over the next three years.
As we work to increase our impact, Genesys Works NYC has an exciting opportunity for a strategic fundraising and external relations leader to join our team as the Associate Director of Development & Communications.
This is a high-impact role for an individual who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and is passionate about advancing economic equity through youth workforce development.
The Associate Director of Development & Communications (AD) plays a critical role in advancing Genesys Works New York City’s fundraising, stewardship, and external engagement strategies. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is responsible for implementing development initiatives, overseeing all marketing and communications activities, and managing site-level campaigns and events. The AD works closely both with the local NYC team and with the Regional Director of Development and national team to align efforts, while also serving as the point of contact for GWNYC with local donors and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities (time percentages are best estimates)
Fundraising & Stewardship (40%)

Partner with the Regional Director of Development to support cultivation and stewardship of individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

Lead execution of site-level fundraising campaigns (e.g., annual/end-of-year appeal, board giving, and special giving campaigns).

Manage donor stewardship activities, including timely acknowledgments, impact reporting, and recognition opportunities.

Manage grant writing consultant to ensure effective and timely submission of grant proposals, reports, and other grant-related documentation.

Represent Genesys Works NYC, in collaboration with the Executive Director, at community and networking events relevant to our mission.
Marketing & Communications (30%)

Serve as the primary communications lead for the site.

Create and distribute newsletters, press releases, and donor/board communications.

Manage social media accounts and digital presence, ensuring consistent brand voice and visibility.

Collaborate with the national marketing team to adapt and implement campaigns at the local level.
Events (10%)

Responsible for the strategic vision of all site-level events (cultivation, fundraising, and community/board events), in collaboration with the Executive Director.

Event logistics, vendors, volunteers, and follow-up will be managed by site staff person with oversight and leadership from the AD.
Board Engagement (10%)

Support the Executive Director with board relations, including preparing materials, managing board gifts, and coordinating board engagement in fundraising efforts.
Other Duties (10%)

Track and report on development metrics to the Executive Director and Regional Director of Development.

Ensure compliance with organizational policies, fundraising standards, and brand guidelines.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in development, communications, or related roles, with proven success in fundraising campaigns and events.

Strong writing, editing, public communication, and relationship-building skills.

Proficiency with CRM systems, donor databases, and digital marketing tools.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate across teams.
