Physician Assistant / Hip & Knee Surgeon

Job Description

The Physician Assistant (PA) will work directly with Dr. Roshan Shah, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction, including joint replacement and complex lower-extremity conditions. This role offers a dynamic blend of clinical, surgical, and perioperative responsibilities within a high-volume orthopedic practice.

Note that transportation to sites is critical: NYC/Westchester and Englewood, NJ. These are rotational sites.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting Dr. Shah in the operating room for hip and knee procedures, including total joint arthroplasty- Please sent resume to mm5491@cumc.columbia.edu / Official post to follow
• Evaluating and managing patients in clinic, preoperative, postoperative, and inpatient settings
• Performing histories, physical exams, and developing treatment plans under physician supervision
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies (imaging, labs)
• Providing patient education regarding procedures, recovery, and rehabilitation
• Managing postoperative care, wound checks, and follow-up visits
• Coordinating care with nursing, physical therapy, and multidisciplinary teams
• Participating in call coverage as required

Qualifications

• Licensed PA in NY Required
• DEA License Required
• Excellent knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation - preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and independently
• Experience in maintaining accurate patient records and documentation /EPIC +
