A Middle School Special Education Teacher position is available in Troutville, VA, serving grades 6 through 8 with a specific focus on inclusion classrooms. This contract role offers an engaging opportunity to support a caseload of 20-25 students with diverse learning needs in both ELA and Math.
Qualifications:
- Active Virginia Special Education License (K-12)
- Endorsements in Special Education, specifically in Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD)
- Experienced in teaching middle school students (grades 6-8), particularly in an inclusion setting
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion in core subject areas such as ELA and Math
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation and communicate regularly with families and school staff
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and independence
