The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities for commercial building projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and according to quality standards, plans, specifications, and applicable regulations. The superintendent serves as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and project team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily construction operations on commercial projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
- Enforce safety policies and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to plans and specifications.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and delays.
- Coordinate inspections with local authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Maintain project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and site logs.
- Lead site meetings with subcontractors, owners, architects, and project managers. Effectively lead jobsite progress meetings and Pre-install meetings with team members and subcontractors.
- Monitor material deliveries and inventory to ensure project continuity.
- Ensure projects remain on budget by managing labor productivity and minimizing rework.
- Communicate project status, risks, and progress to project management and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of commercial construction supervisory experience (or as required by employer). This position is for a fully capable Superintendent who can run projects in the range of $1-10 million. This is not a training position. Evidence of successful past projects from start to finish will be required.
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Understanding of OSHA regulations and job-site safety practices.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and project schedules.
- Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
Residential experience will not be considered.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel is necessary. Additionally, experience with PM platforms such as ProCor, BuildingConnected, etc. are desired.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
