Inpatient/ER Medical Coder Inhouse/Remote

Department: Business Office FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Business Office Manager

Position Summary

The Medical Coder will be responsible for inpatient coding and OP procedure/emergency room coding as determined by workload requirements and the Business Office Manager.

Essential Functions

• Codes visits in accordance with applicable standards as assigned by the Business Office
• Works claim denials as assigned by the Business Office
• Maintains schedules & reconciliations as
• Audits encounters for appropriate documentation and communicates needs to providers with follow-up.
• Retrieves information as requested from records, email, minutes, and other related documents; prepares written summaries of data when needed.
• Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and
• Performs other related duties as

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED
• Current coding credentials through AAPC or AHIMA related to IP and ER
• Minimum of 2 years experience, experience with CAH Method II facilities is a plus!
• One to three years of experience in an administrative role
• Knowledge of medical billing is beneficial
