Job DescriptionDirector of Marketing

Veterinary United — Inspire. Empower. Lead. Evolve. Believe.

About Veterinary United

Veterinary United is an independent, family-owned network of 24 veterinary practices across Southeast Michigan. We’re passionate about creating an environment where people, pets, and practices can thrive. Our mission is rooted in connection and guided by our values: Inspire, Empower, Lead, Evolve, and Believe.

We’re seeking a Director of Marketing who brings creativity, strategy, and leadership together to tell our story, strengthen engagement, and elevate our brand across every channel — from digital media to community events. This person will lead a growing marketing team, oversee content and campaign strategy, and ensure our message reflects the care and connection at the heart of Veterinary United.

About the Role

The Director of Marketing leads the vision, direction, and execution of Veterinary United’s marketing efforts. This person balances creativity with structure — driving innovation through storytelling while ensuring systems, timelines, and strategy stay aligned across departments.

This role is both hands-on and high-level: developing big-picture campaigns and creative direction while overseeing day-to-day social media execution, marketing operations, and brand consistency across 20+ locations. Collaboration is key — you’ll work closely with Operations, HR, Recruiting, Finance, and IT to ensure cohesive messaging, efficient workflows, and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate thrives in environments where creativity meets accountability — where data and design go hand in hand.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Strategy

  • Develop and execute Veterinary United’s annual marketing strategy, integrating social media, digital, print, and cultural initiatives.

  • Lead and mentor the marketing team through a balance of creativity, collaboration, and performance accountability.

  • Partner with company leadership to align marketing initiatives with business goals and core values.

  • Manage marketing budgets, establish KPIs, and track campaign ROI with clarity and consistency.

  • Build cross-department alignment to ensure marketing efforts support recruitment, client engagement, and internal culture.

Social Media and Digital Strategy

  • Oversee Veterinary United’s presence across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for both corporate and clinic accounts.

  • Create, curate, and review engaging content that tells our story — from day-in-the-life videos to pet success stories and team highlights.

  • Guide content calendars, scheduling, and analytics reporting for all locations.

  • Manage paid social campaigns in partnership with leadership to reach specific audiences (recruiting, brand awareness, client engagement).

  • Maintain brand consistency, visual standards, and messaging across all profiles and digital platforms.

  • Partner with the internal creative team to produce compelling imagery, reels, graphics, and stories that connect authentically.

Marketing Operations and Project Leadership

  • Oversee the planning and execution of marketing projects from concept to completion — ensuring timelines, deliverables, and goals are met.

  • Implement tools, dashboards, and processes to improve efficiency and visibility across campaigns.

  • Support creative and operational integration between departments to streamline communication and approvals.

  • Manage relationships with vendors, designers, and partners to ensure on-brand and high-quality results.

Brand, Content, and Creative Direction

  • Lead brand consistency across Veterinary United hospitals, daycare/boarding centers, and corporate events.

  • Direct brand development and refresh projects including signage, uniforms, and rebranding efforts.

  • Oversee internal storytelling campaigns (e.g., We Are Connected, cultural videos, and employee spotlights).

  • Collaborate on video, print, and digital campaigns that highlight our people and purpose.

Events and Community Engagement

  • Lead marketing and creative planning for events such as the Annual Gala, Student Ambassador Program, and community parades.

  • Oversee branding, design, and logistics for trade shows, conferences, and recruiting events (backdrops, displays, swag).

  • Foster partnerships with community groups, schools, and media outlets to expand Veterinary United’s visibility and impact.

Innovation and Emerging Tools

  • Explore and implement AI and digital tools that enhance personalization, content creation, and reporting accuracy.

  • Collaborate with IT and Operations to modernize marketing systems and integrations.

  • Encourage a culture of innovation and creative experimentation while maintaining accountability and measurable results.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of marketing experience, ideally within healthcare, service, or multi-location organizations.

  • 3+ years in a leadership or creative strategy role (Marketing Director, Brand Manager, or Creative Lead).

  • Proven experience leading social media campaigns, managing multi-platform content, and tracking analytics.

  • Strong understanding of SEO, Google Ads, WordPress (or similar CMS), and performance marketing tools.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills — able to manage multiple priorities while inspiring creativity and collaboration.

  • A passion for connection, storytelling, and building teams that bring ideas to life.

Why Veterinary United

  • A family-owned culture that values innovation, individuality, and collaboration.

  • Opportunities to shape the marketing vision of a growing, mission-driven organization.

  • A leadership team that believes in creativity, data-driven strategy, and continuous improvement.

  • A chance to tell stories that matter and help build a brand centered on care, connection, and evolution.
