Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in Tulsa, Oklahoma! This role will manage a team of manufacturing and industrial engineers to implement manufacturing solutions for continuous improvement projects, product changes, & completely new products across multiple product lines. Responsibilities:
- Develops, or facilitates the development of, manufacturing plans for complex changes and new products, and then coaches and counsel's direct reports to implement plans on time and within budget.
- Prepares, or ensures that prepared, manufacturing plans will meet throughput, cost, and quality targets and include: TAKT time calculations, equipment concepts, capital and tooling cost estimates, labor estimates, process flow diagram, plant layout, and error proofing required.
- Manages cross functional teams to ensure that product changes and new product launches are successful.
- Directly assists, or have direct reports assist, design engineering with DFM/DFA issues on new and existing products. Reviews product designs for manufacturability including: location surfaces, tolerances, assembly order and ease of assembly, etc.
- Participates on cross functional teams to develop DFMEAs, PFMEAs, control plans, APQP documentation, etc.
- Reviews / approves, equipment specification and manage special machine suppliers to ensure the equipment provided meets the safety, throughput, cost, and quality requirements.
- Develops manufacturing processes and best practices that are structured, well managed, prioritized, documented, transparent and customer focused
- Improves manufacturing processes utilizing automation. Researches, develops, evaluates, and implements automation in all aspects of manufacturing.
- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods to ensure the highest level of manufacturing efficiency. Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, product design, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Actively develop the professional ability of new and existing engineering staff.
- Identify major plant scrap drivers and implement process.
- Review new technology as it relates to continuous improvement of the manufacturing engineering operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or other technical degree, Master’s Degree desired.
- 15+ years of automotive manufacturing engineering experience or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable in Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD modeling environment, Skilled in Data Analysis using Excel and Minitab.
- Detailed understanding of general assembly processes, tools, and hardware.
- General understanding motors, actuators, brakes, gearing, encoders and drives.
- Working knowledge of DFM, DFA, QS/ISO/TS, PFMEA, APQP and PPAP.
Physical Demands:
- Spends considerable time standing & walking on the production floor & dev lab.
- Operates computer, other office devices, and machinery or engineering equipment on the production floor or development lab.
- Occasionally will have to lift and/or transport items weighing between 10 and 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Predominately office environment with occasional exposure to the production floor and development lab.
- May be subjected to moving mechanical parts and may be required to wear PPE such as safety glasses.
- Travel required.
