Job Title: CVOR Surgical Technologist
Location: Newark, DE 19718
Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Shift: Days | 4x10-hour shifts (primarily day shift)
On-Call Requirement: Required
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CVOR Surgical Technologist to support cardiovascular surgical procedures across a wide range of patient populations. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to work independently within established protocols, and a commitment to maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform scrub duties for cardiovascular surgical procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical instruments
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during operative procedures
- Ensure proper handling and availability of surgical supplies and equipment
- Support surgical cases across all patient populations, including neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric
- Follow established protocols while maintaining sound judgment and professionalism
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety standards
- Collaborate with Registered Nurses and surgical team members to complete assigned unit tasks
- Utilize computer systems for documentation and workflow support
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (required for candidates trained after 2009)
Required Certifications & Licensure
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- National certification through one of the following:
- NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
- AST (Association of Surgical Technologists)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
- State licensure (as applicable) – required upon hire
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1+ year of experience as a Surgical Technologist
- Required experience in Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
- Ability to function independently within established clinical protocols
- Strong understanding of sterile techniques and surgical procedures
- Proficiency in assisting with complex cardiovascular cases
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer and keyboarding proficiency
