Job Description

Quaker Mechanical is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team. This role will play a key part in preparing competitive bids, analyzing HVAC system requirements, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support both design/build and plan/spec projects. We are a union shop servicing a wide range of commercial and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop comprehensive estimates for a wide range of HVAC systems including: chillers, air handling units, packaged RTUs, unit ventilators, VAV systems, refrigeration/freezer units, exhaust systems, boilers, pumps, ATC systems, cooling towers, kitchen exhaust hood systems, and VRF systems.
Review project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify cost drivers.
Coordinate and develop RFIs, submittals, and purchase orders.
Work closely with the President, Director of Operations, and Project Management team.
Support design/build efforts and implement value engineering strategies.
Provide technical guidance to project managers and other internal team members.
Participate in client and project meetings to support ongoing project development.
Track market trends and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bid proposals.
Maintain detailed and organized bid records.
Ensure estimates align with bonding requirements (up to $25M).

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience as an estimator in the HVAC or related construction industry.
Proven experience with both design/build and plan/spec projects.
In-depth technical knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and components.
Experience in unionized environments and coordinating labor needs accordingly.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and defend estimates.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $90,000 – $125,000 annually, based on experience.
