Overall Objectives:

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and performance of aircraft components through precise inspection and balancing processes. The technician will work in a controlled shop environment performing NDT inspections, static and dynamic balancing, and related maintenance services on various aircraft parts and components.

Responsibilities:

The following is just an outline and in no way limits other non-mentioned responsibilities from being added:

Level II Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

  • Perform NDT inspections, including Fluorescent Penetrant Testing (FPI), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), and other applicable methods per FAA regulations and OEM specifications.
  • Interpret indications and evaluate acceptability according to applicable standards.
  • Document inspection results accurately and maintain traceable records.
  • Maintain NDT equipment per procedures.
  • Ensure all equipment calibration is up to date.

Component Balancing

  • Conduct dynamic and static balancing of rotating components such as impellers, fans, and rotors.
  • Utilize precision balancing equipment and interpret results to ensure components meet balance specifications.
  • Record balancing data and generate reports in compliance with internal and customer requirements.

General Duties

  • Read and interpret technical manuals, EOM instructions, and work orders.
  • Adhere to FAA, EASA, and company quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department for process reviews and audits.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and equipment.
  • Support other shop functions as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required Qualifications include:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience and/or specialized service in aviation or aerospace environment.
  • NAS 410 or ASNT Level II certification in at least Fluorescent Penetrant and Magnetic Particle methods.
  • Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 repair station procedures.
  • Experience using balancing machines and interpreting balance reports.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in English. Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, and meet daily deadlines; be a cooperative team player.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Experience with Level III NDT is a plus.
  • Previous experience balancing aviation components such as APU rotor, fans, or air cycle machine components.
  • Knowledge of aviation maintenance software systems.
