Instructional Designer/Trainer (Hybrid)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Instructional Designer/Trainer to support a dynamic technology project. This role involves creating and maintaining user training materials and documentation, delivering engaging training sessions, and providing user support. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member with a passion for instructional design, strong communication abilities, and experience working in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rapidly learn the functionality of a complex web-based application to effectively support user training and assistance.

  • Update online help documentation, training manuals, and closed-captioned instructional videos to reflect the latest application features and workarounds.

  • Create clear and consistent training scripts, materials, and computer-based training modules.

  • Design and build new web pages for user support resources using HTML or a similar authoring tool.

  • Conduct user training sessions (up to 25 participants), record the sessions, and edit videos for publication on internal platforms.

  • Develop and distribute post-training surveys; collect and synthesize results into actionable reports.

  • Address user support issues, monitor helpdesk communications, and collaborate with operations and Tier-2 support teams to resolve issues.

  • Create and manage issue tracking tickets (enhancements, bugs) and maintain status updates in weekly reporting.

  • Provide timely and professional responses to user inquiries.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in Agile project teams.

  • At least 3 years of instructional design experience, including developing and delivering training for software applications.

  • Proficiency with tools for web development and training content creation (e.g., Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

  • Skilled in recording and editing training videos, including adding closed captions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to lead live training effectively.

  • Customer-oriented with proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve end-user issues.

  • Experience using XML in a documentation or development context (2+ years).

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., SubVersion, GIT).

  • 4+ years of experience authoring technical documentation.

  • Working knowledge of JIRA and Confluence is a plus.

  • Understanding of technologies related to communications (radio, radar, antennas, satellite) is a bonus.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Active Secret clearance is required.
