Job DescriptionTravel Agent – Temp to Hire
Salary: $21 – $23 per hour plus commission
Schedule: Monday through Friday, various shifts between 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM; occasional after-hours events
Job Summary
The Travel Agent is primarily responsible for assisting customers with leisure travel arrangements by providing high-quality, efficient service. This role focuses on increasing profitability through the sale of revenue-generating products and services while ensuring client satisfaction and loyalty.
Education and Experience Requirements
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior travel agent experience and strong sales skills
• Knowledge of travel agency operations, procedures, and world geography
• Prior administrative and customer service experience required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist clients with leisure travel arrangements, offering suggestions based on interests and budget
• Make and confirm reservations for airlines, cruises, trains, autos, hotels, and tours at the best rates and schedules
• Prepare individual and group travel itineraries
• Provide tour information and distribute brochures to clients
• Brief clients on travel documents and itineraries to ensure accuracy
• Maintain organized files of trip records
• Answer questions regarding services
• Conduct daily checks
• Assist with corporate travel as needed and maintain brochure displays
• Cross-train on Auto Travel and Cashiering functions
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and member satisfaction
• Achieve sales goals and performance-based compensation targets
• Cross-sell or refer products and services effectively
• Convert travel inquiries into confirmed sales
• Review past transactions to minimize client costs
• Maintain proper procedures for error-free CRS transactions
• Issue accountable travel documents in compliance with vendor and agency procedures
• Research and resolve account discrepancies with proper justification
• Stay informed on industry trends, destinations, and policies
• Secure monies collected and accountable documents at all times
• Maintain adequate supplies of travel materials and office supplies
• Assist in distribution and maintenance of travel videos
• Represent the club professionally at industry functions, seminars, and FAM trips
• Provide rotating coverage in service centers, including evenings and weekends
• Complete and present transactional information to accounting personnel
Required Skills and Abilities
• Flexibility for weekend and evening scheduling
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to recommend travel and events based on client interests
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Strong computer and research skills for booking travel, lodging, and attractions
Physical Requirements
• Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
• Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods
• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
