Job Summary

The job of Paraprofessional - Special Education is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the special education program within assigned classroom with specific responsibility for assisting in the instruction of individual or small groups of students in a variety of subject areas and providing individualized learning experiences to encourage academic excellence; assisting in the implementation of a behavior modification program; monitoring and reporting student behavior and performance; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and performing a variety of clerical duties as assigned.

This job reports to Principal or Assistant Principal

Requirements / Qualifications

If you are NOT currently or never have been a Paraprofessional for VUSD, you must include proof of one of the following:

Two years of college (48 units)

A. A. degree (or higher)

Paraprofessional Exam

We schedule the Paraprofessional Exams by appointment only here at the District Office. Please call our office 707-453-6114 to schedule or email Sharon Lee and Abbie Capps to schedule. Please note: we do accept certificates or scores on exams from other verifiable agencies and they do not expire. We do not accept online exams.

• Certification (Transcripts, Degree or Para Certificate)

• Must be able to pass the Strength and Agility test

• Criminal Background Check

• Tuberculosis Test
