Imagine starting your week collaborating with reactor component experts, then closing it by presenting insights that help extend the safe, efficient life of a nuclear plant. As a Mechanical Engineer I focused on fatigue and aging management, you’ll help ensure the reliability of reactor components across the global nuclear fleet.
What your days might look like
- Partner with senior engineers to analyze fatigue mechanisms and aging phenomena in reactor components, translating findings into practical recommendations.
- Deepen your knowledge of the design, construction, operation, and decommissioning phases of nuclear power plants—and how fatigue plays a role in each stage.
- Work cross-functionally to troubleshoot critical issues that affect construction quality and operational performance.
- Interface with Westinghouse customers, building strong, professional relationships and delivering clear technical communication.
- Grow your understanding of both U.S. and international nuclear markets, standards, and regulatory expectations.
Team, location, and work style
You will report to the Manager, Fatigue Aging Management for Reactor Component Engineering. The role is based at Westinghouse Headquarters in Cranberry, PA (Greater Pittsburgh Area) and operates in a hybrid capacity at the manager’s discretion. No relocation assistance will be provided for this position.
What you’ll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required (only Mechanical Engineering degrees will be considered).
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and a strong foundation in mechanics of materials.
Compensation
Base salary range, dependent on experience, qualifications, and skills: $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
