The Senior Staff Auditor is assigned to assist in administering Americo's risk management responsibilities with the purpose of: Improving operating efficiencies within the organization; Identifying and evaluating the control environment and the effectiveness of that environment to reduce loss exposure; Increasing awareness of Americo's risk exposures; and, Maintaining compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Plans, leads, directs reviews of financial, compliance & operational data
Identifies improper accounting or documentation to ensure accuracy & adequacy of reports/records
Researches issues and recommends appropriate course of action
Prepares audit workpapers - accurately and completely documents outcome
Presents audit findings via reports/presentations, outlining findings & making recommendations
Supports outside external auditing function
Experience and Qualifications
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures relating to auditing of operations, compliance, accounting and financial data
- Insurance industry as well as regulatory knowledge
- Risk Management & Governance concepts, practices and procedures including internal controls
- Understanding of Accounting principles
- Well organized, detail oriented, efficient and able to work independently and think critically
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Highly proficient user of database/spreadsheet and desktop processing applications
- Ability to set achievable and realistic goals as well as able to work around unforeseen obstacles and circumstances
- Ability to select and focus on the most important issues and balance multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities
