This contract position offers an opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses skilled in stepdown care, particularly within progressive care (PCU) settings. The role requires a minimum of two years experience and involves caring for patients with a ratio of 1:5, occasionally extending to 1:6 during high census periods. This night shift role runs from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM providing comprehensive care within a tertiary care hospital recognized as a 5-time Magnet awardee and a Level 1 Trauma center.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units focusing on cardiac telemetry, endocrine/metabolic protocols, respiratory management including chest tubes and non-invasive airway devices.
• Administer IV therapies including blood products, central line, peripheral line, and PICC line management.
• Utilize clinical judgment for dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response activation, and wound care including wound vac management.
• Float between departments or units as patient care needs dictate within nursing scope.
• Fulfill weekend shift requirement averaging 8 shifts per 6-week schedule with occasional holiday shifts and charge nurse responsibilities.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Current RN license with at least two years clinical bedside experience (first-time nurses not eligible).
• Certifications required: Basic Life Support (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Skilled in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, and respiratory interventions.
• Flexibility for floating to different units including ER Holding and Cardiac Telemetry preferred.
• Comfortable managing diverse patient diagnoses including pulmonary, cardiac, neurological, renal, urology, and wound care.
