JOB TITLE: Driver
STATUS: Full-time/Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Logistics Manager
SCHEDULE: Varies, Monday-Saturday
DEPT: Store Overhead

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Safely and courteously pick up donations from donors and deliver to designated LMI locations. This position is to act as an ambassador to the public when collecting donations. This position also is a resource for distributing merchandise within the operations and is to practice great customer service and ministry to assigned residents as part of work therapy.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule and/or confirm route information regarding donation pick-ups, coordinating with other staff as necessary.
Determine whether a donation can be accepted and courteously communicate such to the donor.
Responsible for making sure vehicle has been fueled, oiled and inspected before departure time.
Responsible for load being safely secured and road-worthy. Does final check on load before any departures.
Coordinate with Store Manager to establish and implement systems for storage of goods and donations within the distribution center and LMI property after it is delivered from pick-ups.
Transport unneeded items to Lakeland DC, the landfill, or recycler as appropriate.
Operate LMI vehicles at all times in a safe manner, complying with all laws and LMI policies.
Clean interior and exterior of vehicle on a regular basis.
Visually inspect vehicle on a daily basis, for any needed repairs or maintenance. To the extent that the driver is able, make small repairs. Will record any such repairs in the driver log provided by LMI that is in a binder in the vehicle.
Responsible for immediately reporting to supervisor regarding any maintenance or repair needed.
Communicate with supervisor about any problems that may arise including delays in pick-ups or deliveries, donor concerns or incidents involving LMI vehicles or personnel as these relate or interfere with safe or efficient fulfillment of driver duties.
Provide training, supervision, and feedback to residents as part of their work therapy, emphasizing character and work ethic based traits.
Complete all recordkeeping, documentation, and paperwork as required.
Responsible for providing respectful, courteous service with a “can do” attitude; interact with and respond to LMI employees and guests in a professional, helpful manner.
Will be neatly groomed and represent LMI in a professional manner at all times.
Share the Gospel and/or pray with residents, donors, and volunteers as opportunities arise.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Florida driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle record
Christian with a compassion for the homeless, addicted, and mentally ill, able and willing to model Christ-likeness
Highly trustworthy and conscientious – dependable and responsible
Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical computations
Able and willing to receive and follow instructions
Personable, courteous, respectful and professional in interactions with others
Able to safely complete duties in a timely manner
Knowledge of area and able to read a map
Physically fit, knowledge and use of safe handling and lifting techniques

Requires working in inclement weather

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GRE with previous driving experience
