Job Summary:
The Healthcare Construction Plan Reviewer evaluates electronic construction drawings and specifications for healthcare facilities to ensure strict compliance with Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) standards and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code. This role plays a critical part in protecting patient safety, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting operational efficiency in healthcare environments.Key Responsibilities:
- Review architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings for new construction, renovations, and expansions of healthcare facilities.
- Ensure all plans comply with FGI Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities.
- Verify adherence to NFPA 101 requirements, focusing on life safety, egress, fire protection, and occupancy classifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to resolve code discrepancies.
- Prepare detailed written reports outlining deficiencies, required corrections, and final approvals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory changes.
Required Experience:
- Demonstrated experience reviewing construction plans and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with healthcare facility design and compliance processes.
- Knowledge of NFPA 101: Life Safety Code and FGI Guidelines.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience working directly with architects, engineers, and healthcare regulatory agencies.
- Prior involvement in healthcare facility inspections or compliance reviews.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of healthcare construction standards (FGI, NFPA 101).
- Technical proficiency in reviewing architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent written reporting and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design requirements.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional project teams.
- Familiarity with state and federal healthcare facility regulations.
Additional Skills:
- Report preparation and code compliance analysis.
- Staying current with industry standards and regulatory updates.
