Job Description

The Packager sets up, operates, and monitors a variety of packaging equipment to ensure products are accurately filled, labeled, and prepared for shipment in a clean, safe, and fast-paced environment. This role prepares components, performs visual inspections, completes required documentation, and supports equipment changeovers and basic troubleshooting while following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all required components and materials for use in filling rooms and finishing areas to support continuous packaging operations.
  • Visually inspect packaging equipment and product to identify irregularities, defects, or issues and report them promptly.
  • Clean and sanitize machinery, workstations, and containers according to established procedures and GMP standards.
  • Operate bottle filling, blister card, and powder filling machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Operate equipment in the primary packaging area, including silica pouch inserters, counters, metal detectors, cappers, and related machines.
  • Operate equipment in the secondary packaging area, including bottle scramblers, bottle vision inspection systems, cap heat sealers, coding and labeling machines, checkweighers, tapers, UPC equipment, and scales.
  • Adjust machines and assist with troubleshooting in both primary and secondary packaging areas to maintain efficient production.
  • Dismantle and reinstall attachments and tooling during product changeovers on all packaging equipment.
  • Assist maintenance personnel during troubleshooting and repair activities as needed.
  • Submit maintenance work order (MWO) requests when equipment issues arise.
  • Complete and submit all required checklists, documents, and reports related to packaging operations accurately and on time.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within all packaging areas to ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Follow directions from packaging leads and supervisors while taking responsibility for assigned workstations.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members on the packaging line and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and reliability to support production schedules and deadlines.

Essential Skills

  • 3 years of experience as a Machine Operator or in operator maintenance in a packaging or similar production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging, inspection, labeling, filling orders, palletizing, and stacking.
  • Ability to operate and understand machine controls across multiple types of packaging equipment.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom or clean room practices and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Ability to understand instructions and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and spoken instructions using sound judgment and common sense.
  • Capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong safety awareness and willingness to follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, carry, climb, twist, bend, grip, and reach regularly throughout the shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting while also working independently when required.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Respectful attitude toward others and commitment to a cooperative team culture.
  • Willingness to take responsibility for the workstation and production output.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on high-speed packaging lines with multiple product formats.
  • Background in cleanroom or controlled environment packaging operations.
  • Experience operating tape machines or similar equipment to seal boxes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within teams or informally guide peers during production activities.
  • Strong attention to detail when inspecting product labels and packaging information.
  • Proactive approach to identifying issues and submitting maintenance work orders.
  • Comfort working with checklists, documentation, and basic production reporting.

Work Environment

This role is based on a packaging line where you will primarily stand for most of the shift while inspecting product label information, placing products into boxes, and stacking boxes onto pallets. You will work around multiple packaging lines, some of which run at higher speeds than others, and may operate tape machines to seal boxes as part of the process. The environment follows cleanroom and GMP practices, requiring attention to cleanliness, organization, and proper handling of materials and equipment. Work is physically active, involving regular lifting, carrying, twisting, bending, gripping, and reaching, and requires comfort working around automated machinery and production noise in a structured, production-focused setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jurupa Valley, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
