Position Summary
The OD / Physician Liaison serves as the primary relationship-builder between Westlake Eye Specialists and referring optometrists and medical providers throughout the Austin and surrounding markets. This role focuses on strengthening existing referral relationships, developing new partnerships, and serving as a trusted clinical and operational resource for referring practices.
The ideal candidate is personable, organized, knowledgeable about eye care, and passionate about building long-term professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and grow strong relationships with referring optometrists and medical practices
Conduct regular in-person visits to referring practices across the Austin area
Serve as the main point of contact for referral coordination, communication, and follow-up
Educate referring providers and staff on Westlake Eye Specialists’ physicians, services, technology, and clinical offerings
Support referral growth initiatives for cataract, glaucoma, refractive, and specialty eye care services
Coordinate educational events, lunches, CE opportunities, and practice meetings for referring providers
Communicate feedback from referring practices to leadership and clinical teams
Collaborate with marketing and leadership on outreach strategies and territory planning
Track referral activity, visits, and outcomes using CRM or internal system
Represent Westlake Eye Specialists professionally at community and industry events
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred (healthcare, business, or related field)
Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, medical sales, physician relations, or healthcare marketing strongly preferred
Strong understanding of optometric and ophthalmic referral relationships
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Highly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail
Comfortable working independently in the field and collaborating with internal teams
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally throughout the Austin area
