Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team and serve as the on-site lead for one of the primary satellite subsystems at our high-volume final assembly line in Midland, TX. This role offers a unique hands-on perspective and direct involvement in the full lifecycle of flight hardware and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) - from design trades and prototyping to testing, production implementation, and quality assurance. The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor, driving solutions to non-conformances, establishing robust processes, and supporting continuous improvement. Success in this role requires creativity, reliability, strong organizational skills, and the confidence to challenge existing norms in pursuit of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform design, prototyping, and testing for thermomechanical solutions related to flight hardware and MGSE.
- Develop mechanical designs, CAD models, and manufacturing drawings.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers, Production teams, and technicians to ensure product requirements are met and non-conformances are resolved.
- Lead resolution of product non-conformances and support standardization of engineering dispositions.
- Support change management and deployment of new designs into production.
- Participate in environmental test campaigns and support project milestones (PDR, CDR, MRR) and quality reviews (MRB, FRB).
- Assist in hardware procurement and engage suppliers for engineering definition when needed.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
Experience
A minimum of 2 years in mechanical design or manufacturing, preferably in aerospace or automotive industries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in assembly and integration of mechanical/electromechanical components.
- Familiarity with production and quality processes.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and strong design-for-manufacturing skills
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly iterate and troubleshoot prototype builds, with hands-on workshop experience and independent development of quick-turn solutions using in-house tools such as 3D printers, CNC machines, hand tools, and soldering equipment, as well as external fabrication resources.
- Basic experience with FEM tools for static and modal analysis.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a standard office and workshop environment.
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods.
- Willingness to work hands-on with hardware and equipment on the production floor
