Job Title: Mechanical Designer
Reports To: Engineering Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: Lakeville MN

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for preparing detailed working drawings of parts and assemblies that accurately and completely communicate the design requirements and the design intent to the manufacturing floor. This role requires expertise in SolidWorks (CAD) and the ability to translate engineering concepts into accurate technical models and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications forparts, assemblies, productionfixtures, and shipping arrangementsusingSolidWorksCAD software.
  • Structure assemblies to follow and document the manufacturing process.
  • Produce three-dimensional models ofpartsandassemblies.
  • Createdrawings that accurately and completelydepict functional relationshipsofpartsandassemblies.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or address production problems.
  • Review and analyze sketches, drawings, and related data to assess factors affectingcomponentdesigns.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and customers to resolve design challenges.
  • Prepare technical illustrations for manuals and publications.
  • Operate in compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering and production floor personnel toidentifyand resolve design and production issues
  • Committed to the organization’s quality policy and customer satisfaction.
  • Continuously updateandapplyrelevant knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Education:Associate's degree in ComputerAided Design or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:Minimum 4 years of drafting/design experience.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication techniquesincluding laser cutting, forming, and welding.

Basic Skills

Technical Skills

  • SolidWorks CAD modeling, sheet metal, assembly, and drawing creation.
  • Understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes
  • Understanding ofANSI documentation standards.
  • Understanding ofAWS welding standards.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required tosit;occasionallyrequiredto stand, reach, and handle materials.
  • Ability to operate on the production floor as needed.
