The Director of Training is responsible for maintaining, compliance, and overseeing comprehensive FAR Part 135 compliant training programs for flight crewmembers employed by Makers Air. This includes both flight and ground training, ensuring all training meets Part 135 requirements, safety standards, and operational needs. The Director works closely with the Chief Pilot to ensure alignment between training requirements and qualification events, while also overseeing the performance of both flight and ground instructors
Requirements:
- Maintain compliance with Makers Air’s training programs for flight crewmembers.
- Ensure training materials and methods reflect current FAA regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Update training programs when necessary to adapt to regulatory changes and operational needs
- Oversee the recruitment of new-hire crewmembers, qualification, and performance of flight instructors.
- Ensure that all instructors meet FAA Part 135 requirements and follow training standards.
- Ensure that all training programs align with FAA regulations and operational safety standards.
- Provide continuous feedback and development opportunities for instructors
- Coordinate with the Check Airmen to ensure emphasis is put into training where deficiencies are found during qualification.
- Stay informed of new FAA regulations and industry trends related to pilot training and development.
- Implement continuous improvement strategies to keep training programs up to date and effective.
- Collaborate with operational management to ensure that changes in training programs are aligned with operational goals and standards.
- Identify gaps in pilot performance through assessments and collaboration with the Chief Pilot, Check Airmen and Standards Captains.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, Company Manuals and Airman Certification Standards (ACS)
- Proven experience in managing pilot training programs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage flight instructors and collaborate with senior operations staff.
- Active Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (ATP) with multi-engine and instrument ratings
- Flight experience, preferably in Part 135, seaplane and/or international operations]
- Other duties as assigned.
