Job Overview:

• Company: Florence Cement Company.

• Salary/Pay Rate: $100,000 $150,000/year + performance bonus

• Location: Shelby Township, MI (Onsite)

• Job/Employment Type: Full-Time.

• Schedule: Monday - Friday (weekends as needed during peak bidding period).

• Project Scope: Heavy Civil, MDOT, Infrastructure, and Roadway Projects (Commercial, Industrial).

• Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.

The Opportunity

Florence Cement Company is seeking a Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to support the preparation and submission of bids for roadway, infrastructure, and site development projects. This role is responsible for analyzing project requirements, developing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Youll play a key role in helping the company pursue and secure new work across public and private sector projects.

What Youll Do

• Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, equipment, and materials

• Develop bid packages and support overall bid strategy

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing

• Identify project risks, site conditions, and potential cost impacts

• Manage multiple bids and ensure deadlines are met

• Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during bid preparation

• Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation

• Support post-bid activities, including scope reviews and handoff to operations

What Were Looking For

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

• Experience in heavy civil construction estimating

• Familiarity with roadway, infrastructure, or site development projects

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Proficiency with estimating and project software (HCSS HeavyBid/HeavyJob, Microsoft Project, or similar)

• Valid drivers license required

Preferred Experience

• Experience bidding on DOT or public sector projects (e.g., MDOT)

• Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and bid solicitation processes

• Understanding of production rates, equipment costs, and jobsite logistics

• Experience working in a team-oriented construction environment
