Position Overview/Summary

TheCivil Construction Superintendentoversees site preparation and development for commercial construction projects, focusing onearthwork, utilities, and foundation work. This position ensures that all site-related activities, from initial grading to utility installation and foundation preparation, are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

As a critical part of the project delivery team, the Civil Superintendent coordinates with project managers, subcontractors, and site crews to maintain schedules, budgets, and safety compliance. This role is ideal for a hands-on, organized professional with a strong background in civil construction and a proven ability to lead field operations.

Core Competencies

Site Preparation and Earthwork Management

• Oversee all aspects of site development, including grading, excavation, soil stabilization, and compaction.
• Ensure proper execution of site plans and specifications related to earthwork and foundations.

Utility Installation Oversight

• Manage installation of underground utilities, including water, sewer, stormwater, and electrical systems.
• Coordinate inspections and compliance with local codes and regulations.

Foundation and Structural Work

• Supervise excavation and preparation for building foundations, footings, and structural components.
• Verify elevations, layouts, and site conditions to align with project plans.

Leadership and Communication

• Lead site crews and subcontractors, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions with project managers, engineers, and clients.

Safety and Compliance

• Implement and enforce safety standards and OSHA requirements on-site (minimum OSHA 30 Certification required).
• Identify potential hazards and ensure proactive mitigation measures.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate daily logs, progress photos, and reports.
• Utilize construction management software (Procore/Trimble) to track progress and project milestones.

Problem-Solving and Adaptability

• Proactively identify and resolve site-related challenges with innovative, cost-effective solutions.
• Adapt to project changes and unexpected site conditions effectively and efficiently.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience incivil construction, specifically earthwork, utilities, and foundation preparation.
• Proven ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong understanding of grading, excavation, compaction, and utility installation processes.
• Demonstrated success in leading field teams and managing subcontractors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; experience with Procore or Trimble Construction One is a plus.
• OSHA 30 Certification
• Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
