Tooling Engineer | Delta Township, MI

Salary Range: $68,000 - $107,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Delta Township that are seeking Tooling Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and modify manufacturing tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot tooling issues to minimize production downtime.
• Manage tooling maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Evaluate and select appropriate tooling materials, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with production, design, and quality teams to optimize tooling performance and product quality.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives for tooling design, fabrication, and usage.
• Specify, procure, and qualify new tooling and equipment from external vendors.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in tooling design, manufacturing, or maintenance within a production environment.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for tooling design and simulation.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling materials, and heat treatment.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with advanced materials and coatings for tooling applications (e.g., carbide, ceramic, PVD/CVD).
• Proficiency in FEA or other simulation software for tooling performance analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with automation integration for tooling systems.
