Lean Manufacturing Engineer | Norton Shores, MI

Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles and tools (e.g., 5S, SMED, VSM, Kanban).
  • Identify and eliminate waste (muda) in manufacturing processes through continuous improvement projects.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard work procedures to ensure process consistency and efficiency.
  • Train and mentor production teams on Lean methodologies, problem-solving techniques, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Conduct process analysis, time studies, and value stream mapping to optimize production flow and reduce lead times.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of Lean initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement across all levels of the organization to foster operational excellence.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or a related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience implementing Lean principles and tools (e.g., VSM, Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work) in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in process optimization, waste reduction, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis techniques (e.g., A3, 5 Whys).
  • Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural change.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification
  • Experience with advanced process simulation software (e.g., Arena, FlexSim, AnyLogic)
  • Proficiency with a major ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle) in a manufacturing environment
  • PMP Certification or demonstrated experience leading large-scale transformation projects
