Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This position seeks a qualified Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to work within a school setting located in Oakland, CA. This is a contract role designed for professionals dedicated to supporting the educational and developmental needs of students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized instructional strategies to enhance learning and communication skills
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including audiologists, speech therapists, and general education staff
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary
- Provide support and training to families and caregivers to foster student success
Qualifications:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience working with students who have hearing impairments
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Knowledge of assistive technology and auditory development techniques
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
