Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This position seeks a qualified Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to work within a school setting located in Oakland, CA. This is a contract role designed for professionals dedicated to supporting the educational and developmental needs of students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Utilize specialized instructional strategies to enhance learning and communication skills
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including audiologists, speech therapists, and general education staff
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods as necessary
  • Provide support and training to families and caregivers to foster student success

Qualifications:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who have hearing impairments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of assistive technology and auditory development techniques
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
