Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide expert nursing care in an Operating Room setting at a prestigious healthcare facility located within Washington Navy Yard, DC. This contract position offers an opportunity to apply specialized skills in a dynamic environment where advanced procedures and patient safety are top priorities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active RN license in DC required prior to start; pending DC license status accepted with proof
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience
- BCLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
- Experience with General OR, Bariatrics, ENT, Neurology, Orthopedic, and Urology lines
- Skilled in specialized procedures including Total Joints, Spine surgery, Craniotomy, Free Flaps, Cytoreduction, Bariatrics, and ENT/OMF
- Ability and willingness to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Comfortable with on-call responsibilities (approximately 6 calls per 6-week schedule)
- Weekend shift requirement of one weekend per 6-week schedule
Schedule & Hours:
- Evening shifts, 3x12-hour shifts per week (11:00 AM 11:30 PM)
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgical teams by preparing operating rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Provide patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring safety and comfort
- Adhere strictly to infection control and operating room protocols
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in required floats to other units when needed
