We're looking for a Technical Writer to help us grow the team and keep our operations running smoothly.
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Writer to support cross-training and documentation development across our production teams. This role will collaborate closely with engineers, quality personnel, and managers to create and maintain clear, accurate work instructions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in various automotive production areas, from Body-in-White to Final Assembly, and will help ensure that our documentation supports our focus on delivering a high-quality product.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop, write, and maintain detailed work instructions for production processes, especially in later-stage operations (e.g., upholstery, chassis, final trim, PDL).
- Collaborate with engineering, quality teams, MEQ (Manufacturing Engineering Quality), and production staff to gather technical input, validate processes, and develop accurate documentation
- Update and revise documentation within APMs (Assembly Process Manual) to reflect best practices and process changes.
- Ensure documentation supports quality, safety, compliance, and training initiatives.
- Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SmartSheet, and SharePoint for drafting, managing, and publishing documentation.
- Participate in quality reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production standards and clarity of instruction.
- Support creating and updating the Service and Car Manual.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in multiple stations within the production environment.
- Automotive technician background with experience working on and around vehicles using basic hand tools, along with a strong understanding of automotive systems, terminology, and technical manuals
- English writing proficiency with strong writing skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and a team player with a willingness to learn new tools and processes.
- Able to write step-by-step procedures in a linear fashion.
- Ability to handle multiple documentation projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ( NOT REQUIRED)
- Familiarity with APMs (Assembly Process Manual) or other automotive manufacturing documentation systems.
- Understanding production and quality assurance processes.
- Experience with video and image editing (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator)
- Photography skills

- $27.79 - $34.88 per hour
