This role combines hands-on pool cleaning with technical diagnostics, water chemistry management, and equipment service. The ideal candidate understands that pool service is both a physical trade and a technical discipline.
This is year-round employment in varying and sometimes severe weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine residential and commercial pool cleanings
- Maintain and balance water chemistry using LSI principles
- Test, document, and adjust water chemistry accurately
- Service and troubleshoot pool equipment (pumps, heaters, filters, automation, salt systems, chemical feeders, ORP systems)
- Identify equipment failures and recommend corrective solutions
- Clean and service salt cells, sensors, and chemical feeders
- Maintain detailed service logs and communicate findings clearly
- Load/unload and safely transport equipment
- Lift and maneuver equipment weighing 100+ lbs
- Represent J.R. Pools professionally at all job sites
Qualifications
- Clean background check
- Clean driving record
- Ability to lift 100+ lbs repeatedly
- Ability to work in extreme heat, cold, and varying weather conditions
- Strong understanding of water chemistry and LSI (Langelier Saturation Index)
- High attention to detail
- Mechanically inclined and solution-oriented
- Accepts constructive feedback and demonstrates a growth mindset
- Professional communication skills
- Reliable and punctual
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous pool industry experience (residential and/or commercial)
- CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and/or RPO (Registered Pool Operator) certification
- Must have passed the exam within the last 6 years
- Experience with Pentair, Raypak, Jandy, or Hayward systems
- Experience diagnosing heaters, automation, salt systems, and circulation issues
