We are currently looking for a Full-Time Tissue Culture Lab Technician to join our growing team here in St. Johns! The goal of a Tissue Culture Lab Technician is to support scientific excellence by focusing on precision, protocol adherence, and delivering reliable solutions for research and production needs.

Tissue Culture Lab Technician Responsibilities:

  • Consistently follow company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices to ensure product quality, employee safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain full compliance with all applicable state and local regulations governing cannabis tissue culture, handling, transport, and record-keeping. Stay current with regulatory changes and assist with audits or inspections as needed.
  • Perform all stages of plant tissue culture, including explant sterilization, media preparation, micropropagation, rooting, acclimatization, and subculturing.
  • Carry out explant preparation and subculture of plantlets for production and delivery.
  • Assist with media formulation and sterile preparations.
  • Maintain sterile technique in a laminar flow hood and ensure proper sanitation of the lab environment.
  • Sit and work for long periods of time in a sterile flow hood facility using hand tools.
  • Maintain tissue culture vessels and strain inventories, including clean, detailed records of daily activities.
  • Track inventory of culture vessels, media, supplies, and explant materials.
  • Monitor cultures for contamination, growth rate, and overall health, documenting any abnormalities.
  • Assist in phenotypic screening, genotype tracking, and record-keeping using lab management software or spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of aseptic techniques in clean laboratory environments.
  • Always Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to lab coats, gloves, eye protection, and face mask, to maintain a sterile environment and ensure personal safety.
  • Lift, carry, and reach overhead or use a step stool as needed.
  • Safely package and transport tissue culture plantlets to internal or external grow facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including batch information, quantities, and delivery times.
  • Ensure all transport activities comply with regulatory standards, including temperature control and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Serve as a liaison between the tissue culture lab and cultivation teams to support clear communication and aligned production schedules.


Tissue Culture Lab Technician Requirements:

At least 2 years of laboratory related experience involving direct interaction with clients, researchers, or end-users is preferred—ideally within specialized environments such as scientific research, biotechnology, healthcare, or related settings.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years or older
  • Ability to pass drug testing and Level 2 Florida State background check

Training will be provided to selected candidates. No prior Medical Marijuana or dispensary experience is needed.
