Job Description

Are You Ready to Shape the Built Environment?

Capitol Engineering Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a cornerstone of our engineering leadership team. This is a high-impact role for an experienced professional who goes beyond conventional design—someone capable of leading complex HVAC and MEP engineering initiatives while serving as a trusted advisor to clients and a mentor to emerging engineers.

At this level, you will not simply execute projects—you will define technical excellence, guide engineering strategy, and help shape the future direction of the firm’s mechanical design capabilities.

If you are energized by solving complex engineering challenges, leading multidisciplinary teams, and delivering innovative building solutions, this role offers a platform to make a meaningful impact.

The Impact You’ll Make

Strategic Project Leadership

Lead the full engineering lifecycle for large-scale HVAC and MEP systems, ensuring seamless integration between mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines across complex commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

Technical Excellence & Benchmarking

Set the technical bar for the firm by overseeing advanced engineering analysis including thermal modeling, energy performance analysis, life-cycle cost modeling, and hydraulic system optimization.

Design Authority

Develop and refine firm-wide mechanical specifications, engineering standards, and SOPs while leading QA/QC reviews that ensure every deliverable meets the highest levels of precision, performance, and code compliance.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as the primary technical advisor to architects, developers, owners, and contractors, translating complex engineering challenges into practical design solutions and executable project plans.

Mentorship & Team Development

Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers by providing technical direction, coaching, and development support that builds the next generation of engineering leadership.

What We’re Looking For: Expertise & Vision

We are looking for a professional who pairs deep technical "know-how" with the ability to lead a team through the finish line.

· Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a heavy emphasis on complex HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities.

· Credentials: Professional Engineer (PE) License is required. Ability to obtain license within 6 months.

· Technical Mastery: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Trane TRACE/HAP, and energy modeling software. A deep understanding of ASHRAE standards, LEED requirements, and local building codes is essential.

· Project Stewardship: Proven track record of managing project budgets, staffing hours, and multi-disciplinary coordination.

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree or LEED AP accreditation is a significant plus).

Why Join Peer ?

We don’t just offer a job; we offer a platform for influence. You will have:

· Autonomy: The freedom to lead projects and implement innovative design philosophies.

· Growth: A clear path toward principal-level leadership and firm ownership opportunities.

· Culture: A collaborative environment where technical rigor is balanced with a supportive, people-first atmosphere.
